What Airffic Expense is

The hard part of expenses is not typing amounts, it is not letting receipts pile up. With Airffic Expense you photograph a receipt on your phone, AI reads the date, amount, store and category, you check it and press "record", and it is in the month's list. Entering by hand uses the same screen.

Each month lists category, store, description and amount, with a total. At month end, "Export CSV" gives you a table you can hand to accounting or import into bookkeeping software. There is no approval workflow and no reimbursement payment. It is a tool for people in the field to clear the day's receipts before the day ends.

Reading is done by Anthropic's Claude; the image is sent only to be read and is not stored. Photos are shrunk to 1600 px on the long edge before sending, so it keeps working on a weak signal on site. Sign in and the records stay in your account, on the same foundation as your other Airffic records (budget, invoices, time clock). The app itself is currently in Japanese; an English interface is on the roadmap.

How to use it

  1. 1Photograph the receipt"Photograph receipt" opens the camera. AI reads date, amount, store and category into the fields.
  2. 2Check and recordFix any misreads. Choose the category (transport, meals, supplies, communications, lodging, other) and add a short description.
  3. 3Look at the monthEntries in date order with the month's total. Earlier months are available.
  4. 4Export CSVAt month end, "Export CSV": a table of date, category, store, description and amount.

Questions

How accurate is the reading?
Thermal-paper receipts and handwriting can be misread. Always check what was read before recording. The tool saves you the typing, not the checking.
Are receipt images stored?
No. The image is sent only to be read; what remains is the text (date, amount, store, category, description). Keep the originals yourself according to your tax rules.
Does it meet Japan's electronic bookkeeping (denshi chobo hozon) requirements?
No. It has none of the mechanisms required for scanner storage (timestamps, search requirements and so on). It is a record-and-total tool; keep originals separately.
Can it replace a company expense system?
It suits individuals and small businesses. It has no approval, payment or journal integration, so in a company that needs those, use it as the step before handing over a CSV.
Do I need to sign in?
You can record without signing in; entries stay on this device. Only the AI receipt reading requires sign-in. Signed in, records are saved to your account and open on any device.
